Terminal 5 boss quits

The man who oversaw the opening of Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 is leaving his job.

According to Spanish-owned BAA, which runs the airport, managing director Mark Bullock has "chosen to leave" his position because of a change to management roles.

Colin Matthews, BAA's chief executive, said Mr Bullock made "a significant contribution to BAA and to Heathrow Airport in particular and has led the airport through a particularly challenging period".

He will be replaced by Mike Brown, the chief operating officer for London Underground.

The problems surrounding the opening of new terminal have been an embarrassment for BAA. Many flights were cancelled and thousands of bags lost when the £4.3bn terminal was opened in late March.

Last month British Airways, which runs from the terminal, announced two of its executives were leaving the airline after the fiasco at Terminal 5.

Ahh, what a shame. But I bet the massive salary he was earning while the T5 madness was happening will keep the wolf from the door.
