The 14-year-old boy killed in the sword attack in Hainault yesterday attended the same school as Nottingham stabbing victim Grace O'Malley-Kumar.

The teenager, named locally as Daniel Anjorin, was a student at Bancroft's private school in Woodford Green, east London, the same institution that Ms O'Malley-Kumar, who tragically lost her life in a knife attack in June last year, attended.

Four other people were also injured in this attack in north east London, including police officers.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The police were called to the scene at 7am, and a 36-year-old suspect was apprehended 22 minutes later.

The police do not consider the incident to be a targeted attack or terror-related, and they are currently working to establish the circumstances of what took place.

As a mark of respect for Mr Anjorin, Bancroft’s flag is being flown at half mast.

Lisa McDonald, head of Woodford Green Preparatory, a feeder school to Bancroft’s, wrote to parents on Wednesday, announcing the pupil's death with a "heavy heart".

She said: "The news of his passing is a devastating blow to his family, friends and the entire school community.

"It is difficult to comprehend such a tragic loss, especially so soon after the heartbreaking incident involving Grace O’Malley-Kumar, whose memory we continue to honour.

"Our thoughts and prayers extend to the family, friends, and everyone touched by his presence at Bancroft’s and, [at] this time of immense grief, we stand together in solidarity and support."

The 14-year-old's mother is an employee at the Holy Family Catholic School.

In an official statement on its website on Tuesday, the school said: "It is with great sadness that I share with you the news of the death of the child of one of our staff members.

"Mrs Anjorin's son was taken from this life suddenly this morning on his way to school.

"Please keep Mrs Anjorin, her husband, and their other children in your prayers."

Grace O'Malley-Kumar's parents extended their support to the Anjorin family following their devastating loss.
